About the Department
The Department of Commerce was one of the oldest departments established during the academic year 1969-70 in SV University (Estd. 1954) to offer M.Com degree course under the aegis of Economics Department, S.V. University College of Arts and Sciences and subsequently it emerged as an independent entity during the year 1971, with Dr. O.R. Krishna Swamy as the founder member of the Department. Under the re-organized set-up during 2006, the Department became a part of the College of Commerce, Management and Information Sciences. For the new millennium, a new course i.e., MFM was started in the year 1999 under semester system. And M.Com (A&F) was started during the academic year 2005-06. Both M.Com and MFM courses were modified to incorporate Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) during the academic year 2006-07. The Department of Commerce is one of the biggest Departments in Sri Venkateswara University campus with a total strength of 320 students. To meet the overwhelming demand for accounting and finance professionals, the Department offers three courses viz., M.Com on Regular basis, M.Com (FM) and M.Com (A&F) on self-supporting basis besides PhD program. Currently, based on NEP guidelines syllabi is restructured to include core, generic electives, compulsory foundations, skill oriented course, mandatory project report, and open electives.

Dr. K. Jayachandra Reddy, Professor and Head of the Dept. of Commerce was born in Nainarukandriga village near Puttur. He has obtained his M.Com. & Ph.D. from the S.V. University and M.B.A. from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University. Dr. Reddy appointed as Associate Professor in the Dept. of Commerce of S.V. U. P.G. Centre, Kavali in the year 2007 and repatriated to S.V. University, Tirupati during the year 2012. He promoted as Professor of Commerce during the year 2013. He has completed 1 UGC Major Research Project and 2 Major ICSSR Research Projects. Prof. K. Jayachandra Reddy published 56 articles and 3 books on various topics of his interest and specialization. He has successfully guided 4 Ph.D. scholars and 3 M.Phil. So, for Dr. Reddy attend and presented 56 National and International seminars/Conferences. He served the hostels of the institution in various positions viz., Assistant Warden, Deputy Warden, Additional Warden and Warden and also worked as NSS programme Officer of NSS Unit of S.V.U. College of CM & CS for two years. He is serving as an external member of Board of Studies of MBA of SITAMS, Chittoor and AIETS, Tirupati. Dr. Reddy is the life member of Indian Commerce Association (ICA). Prof Reddy actively engaged in NAAC assignments as Chairperson and Member Co-ordinator of Peer Team visits of different Higher Educational Institutions. He got the Fellow of Hind Agri-horticultural Society (FHAS) Award for the year 2010 from Hind Agri-horticultural Society, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. Dr Reddy received Teacher of Excellence Award from S.V. University on 2024 Teacher’s Day Celebrations.

Prof. P. MOHAN REDDY
He was born in Veligajulapalli Village, Nellore District. He obtained M.Com from S V University in the year 1985, MBA from Madras University in the year 2013 and Ph.D. degree from S.V. University in the year 1990. He was appointed as Lecturer in B R Ambedkar University in Feb 1992 S.V.University, Tirupati in Sep 1992, promoted as Associate Professor during 2000 and subsequently he became Professor during 2008. He is having 29 years of P.G. teaching experience, 7 M.Phil degrees and 24 Ph.D. degrees were awarded under his able guidance. He has published 171 articles in various repeated National and International Journals and 16 books. He has attended 128 National and International seminars and also attended 65 on-line webinars.
His Area of Specialization by research includes finance, banking and financial services industry, by teaching includes finance and accounting. He worked as former Head, Department of Commerce, Member of BOS in Commerce (P.G.), Chairman, PG BOS in Commerce. He has been honoured with Best Teacher Award from A.P. Govt, Amaravati in September, 2017 and has been awarded with 15 awards from versatile body of organizations. He has completed 1 UGC MRP major research project and completed 1 minor ICSSR research project. He is a member – research and development association, Jaipur, life member – Indian accounting association member – Institute of Indian banking, Mumbai, member – All India commerce association, life member – Indian red cross society, AP state branch, life member – IIPA, New Delhi, member -journal of bank quest.
