The University College of Science was established in 1954 in the Temple city of Tirupati. The Venkateswara University College of Sciences has been a premiere institution for higher learning, research, extension and consultancy. It is one of the constituent campus Colleges of Sri Venkateswara University.

The College is located in a picturesque campus at the foot of Seven Hills, with well-planned and aesthetically designed buildings spread in a Green, Clean and Expansive environment, the campus is a joyous place to work and live. Since its inception from 1954, the College has been successfully maintaining and catering the needs of the students by meeting National and International Standards in Higher Education. The College has a glorious history and celebrated the Silver Jubilee in 1979 and Golden Jubilee in 2004 in a grand and benefitting manner.

The College has a total strength of nearly 2000 Students pursuing different PG courses, 72 Research Scholars, 61Teaching Staff, 59 Academic Consultants and 45 Administrative and Supporting staff. It is the biggest constituent College of the University with a Teacher to Student ratio of nearly 1:10.

Presently the College has 19 Regular Departments and 12Self supportive/Financing courses. The students for the M.Sc Course are admitted through the Entrance Test conducted by the University or a Common Test conducted by APSCHE.

The University College of Science is offering Ph.D programme in all Subjects.

Both, Boys and Girl students are accommodated in different Blocks of PG Hostels. The Hostels are equipped with required infrastructural facilities to cater the needs of the students.

The University College of Science has a placement cell which works in close coordination with the Directorate of placement services. In addition, we also have Faculty co-ordinators and Student co-ordinators to help the placement cell in organizing the Campus placements.

The College is playing a pivotal role in Teaching, Research and Extension activities and contributing to the socio-cultural transformation of the region by imparting quality and value based higher education.

It is noteworthy to mention that the college has produced large numbers of Vice Chancellors, Registrars, AP State Meritorious Awardees, many Fellows of National and International Academics and Members in various National level expert Committees.

The Departments have expertise in various related fields and are engaged in advanced research activities, has International collaboration programmes, some of the Departments were recognized centres of Excellence and centres of Advanced study. The College of Science keeps itself alive with regular Academic activities like Seminars, Workshops and Conferences.

It is equipped with advanced and sophisticated laboratories. Faculty members have liaison with research institutions of repute in India and abroad.

Several Faculty members have the objective to foster and promote interdisciplinary and interactive research among the Faculty members, especially of life science Departments.

The Faculty members of the Science College have the distinction of receiving several International, National and State Awards such as Young Scientist Award, Mid Career Award, Best Teacher Award, Von Humboldt’s Fellowship, Common wealth Fellowship.
