Established in the year 1995, Directorate of Student Welfare and Cultural Affairs is a non-vocation department of our University.

  •    Endeavour to promote cultural, emotional national and communal integration in the campus.
  •    Provides an avenue for the expression of literary and artistic creativity and originality among the students, research scholars and faculty.
  •     Aims to inculcate discipline, enhance commitment, develop service motto among the students.
  •  To identify the redress the grievances of the students.
  •    Besides taking care of the developmental, informational and welfare needs of the students on the campus.

Among others the directorate undertakes the following 3 types of activities:

Welfare Activities

  •    Training in Yoga, Meditation classes – This activity starts by 6.30am to boys, followed by girls from Monday to Saturday every week (Nearly 40 students attended these classes per month per batch).
  • Training in Music – The classes starts by 5.15pm to 6.15pm from Monday to Wednesday every week in Vocal and Flute (Nearly 10 students took training per month per batch).
  •   Spoken English Classes for Communication skills – After regular class work, Monday to Friday these classes are conducted from 5.15pm to 6.15pm every week (Nearly 80 students attended these classes per month per batch).
  •     Internet Orientation Programmes – The Internet Programme is held in our computer centre from 5.15pm to 6.15pm for 3 days Monday to Wednesday every week (Nearly 15 students attended these classes per month per batch).
  •    Conducting Classes in Dance – These classes conducted from 5.15pm to 6.15pm for 2 days – Thursday and Friday (Nearly 10 students attended these classes per month per batch).
  •   Personality Development Classes – Every Saturday from 5.15pm to 7.15pm these classes are held (Nearly 80 students attended these classes per month per batch).
  •    Audiovisual Club – Once in 3 months, important and award winning films are screened for the benefit of the students.

The students are selected batch wise and classes are run for one month per batch.

Cultural Activities:

Apart from these, the Directorate takes up literary and cultural activities as a prelude to the participation of SVU teams in the South Zone and National level competitions organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, New Delhi) every year and communicate with all the constituent colleges, affiliated colleges, P.G. Centers. The competitions are conducted in 5 major events – Fine Arts, Music, Theatre events, Dance and Literary.

And DSWCA organises anti-ragging meet every year and other students related activities.
