TEQIP

A Brief Report on TEQIP – III – 1.3, SVUCE, Tirupati

TEQIP – III is a world Bank funded project sponsored by Ministry of Education, Government of India with a budget outlay of 7.0 crores aimed at Twinning arrangements to Build Capacity and improve performance of participating institutes. It is an institutional project and Our college was competitively   selected after successfully completing two phases earlier. Under this project almost all the existing laboratories were strengthened and modernized besides establishing six new laboratories at an expenditure of 419 lakhs enabling the staff, students, and research scholars to conduct experiments in current areas of research. 33 class rooms were transformed as digital class rooms by equipping them with digital interactive panels which enable recording of all the proceedings of the class including what is written on the board and the same can be shared with students through screen sharing or internet soon after the class is over thus making the students focus more on what is being taught rather than copying down the same. 32 research scholars were paid a research assistantship of about 100 lakhs. 62 conferences, seminars, and staff development programs were conducted apart from deputing staff and students to various training programs and conferences at premier institutes like IITs and IIMs with an expenditure of 127 lakhs benefiting about 8500 staff and students. Some of these programs are exclusively meant for nonteaching staff only. All the faculty are provided with infrastructure necessary for digital learning and online teaching. In spite of COVID – 19, about 500 students were trained in future skills by faculty trained by NASSCOM and IITs. AICTE mandate was implemented. Under twinning activities as a mentor, several programs were conducted for faculty and students of Indira Gandhi Engineering College, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh collaboratively by our faculty and students. Effectiveness of implementation of the project in our institute is continuously monitored by BoG and NPIU appointed Performance Auditor Prof. G.P. Prabhu Kumar, Former Principal, University BDT College of Engineering, Davangere, Karnataka and Mentor Prof. Sajal Das Gupta, Former Director of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal.  Our institute is one of the few institutes in India which received 70 lakhs additional allocation, 13 digital interactive panels, and ERP software SAMARTH under incentivization of   well performing institutes over and above the original allocation of 7.0 crores.
