I have more than 3 decades of experience in Research and Teaching with significant contributions to Academia in the areas of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Heterocyclic Chemistry, and Bioorganic Chemistry. I produced 17 Ph.D., and 7 M.Phil., degrees and published nearly 200 research papers in the national and international journals of repute. I presented more than 100 papers at various National and International conferences. I am a member of several academic and professional bodies and am awarded Associate Fellow, APAS – 2019. I held several positions of responsibility such as being the co-convenor for a National Seminar in 2012 as well as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator to complete 6 Research Projects funded by CSIR, UGC, and BRNS.
I pursue research on 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of ToSMIC, diazomethane, nitrile imines, and nitrile oxides to a variety of activated mono and bis olefins. In addition, my research team is actively involved in the development of a variety of bioactive heterocyclic compounds having drug scaffolds adopting modern synthetic methodologies and environmentally benign techniques like phase transfer catalysis, ultrasonication, microwave irradiation. Various analytical tools such as UV, IR, NMR, HR mass spectral data, and X-ray crystallography are utilized to characterize the structures of the target molecules. The preliminary bioassay of many of the compounds are identified as potential antibacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer agents. Moreover, molecular docking studies are also performed for some of the lead compounds.
