Introduction

The UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), formerly known as Academic Staff College was established in Sri Venkateswara University on 31st August 1988, has been one of the first few Academic Staff Colleges established in the country and it has thus distinction of having its Silver Jubilee completed in August, 2013. Ever since its inception the HRDC has organized more than three hundred Orientation Programmes, Refresher and other Courses. Apart from the training programmes for degree college and university teachers, the HRDC conducts Training Programmes for  Principals and other academic administrators, non academic staff and research scholars. 

Objectives

Objectives of the HRDC are to enable newly appointed and Serving Lecturers to:

a.       Understand the significance of education in general, and higher education in particular.

b.      Understand the linkages between education and economic and socio-cultural development.

c.       Acquire and improve art of teaching at the college/university level to achieve goals of higher education

d.      Keep abreast of the latest developments in their specific subjects

e.       Understand the organization and management of a college/university and the role of teachers

f.       Utilize opportunities for development of personality, initiative and creativity

g.       Promote computer literacy as well as use of ICT in teaching and learning process.

Unique features of  HRDC Programmes  : Among the 66 HRDC’s functioning in the Country  SVU-UGC-HRDC  has organised Innovative / Unique  Courses  like  : Refresher  Course in Engineering Sciences ( Almost first time  in the history of  HRDC’s in the Country to organise a course of this type for streams of  engineering sciences ).
