Founded in 1954 in the temple city of Tirupati, Sri Venkateswara University  College has been a premiere institution for higher learning, research, extension  and consultancy.  It is a constituent campus college of Sri Venkateswara University.

The College is located serenely in a picturesque campus at the foot of the Seven Hills. With well-planned and aesthetically designed buildings spread in a green, clean and expansive environment, the campus is a joyous place to work and live. Since its inception half century ago, the College has been successfully maintaining and meeting national and international standards in higher education.

Vision: The College envisages inculcating the sense of accountability and responsibility among the students through the academics, who will be the makers of future India.

The College currently conducts the following programs:

Post Graduate Degree, Ph.D. Programme, PG Diploma in some courses, Certificate Courses.

S.V.U College of Arts has total of 28 Departments and Centres at present viz: (AIHC&A), Adult Education, BP.Ed, Econometrics, Economics (R&SF), English, Hindi, History, HRDC Human Rights Commission, Linguistics, 5Years LLB, LLM, Med, MLISC Library Science, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Political Science & Public Administration, Population Studies, Rural Development, Sanskrit, Sociology, SEAP Studies, Master of Social Work, Tamil, Telugu (R&SF), Tourism, Urdu, Centre for Women Studies.

Prof. S.G. Manavala Ramanujam 1955 – 1958 from Dept. of. Zoology was the founder Principal and so for 41 principals have occupied the position.

Presently the College of Arts has 48 Teaching staff, 86 Academic Consultants  and 92 Non-Teaching staff. Sri. A. Mani, Assistant Registrar &  Sri. G. Krishna Kumar, Superintendent, are assisting the Principal in the office along with the other supporting staff.
