Prof. C. Suresh Reddy has been teaching organic chemistry to P.G. students for the last 27 years. His main research interest is synthesis and characterization of bioactive organophosphorus molecules. He has 32 years of research experience in synthetic organic chemistry & electroorganic chemistry and published 1 patent and about 308 research papers in reputed National and International journals with high impact factor. The complementary citation indices of his research have established an h-index value 28 and i10-index value 86 along with 3025 citations. He has also presented more than 140 conference presentations at various academic and research organizations. Till now he guided 13 M.Phil. and 55 Ph.D. degrees (as Guide: 42 & as Co-Guide: 13) along with 2 Post-Doctoral young scientists. At present about 04 Ph.D. research scholars and 1 Post-Doctoral Fellow are working under his guidance. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at National Taiwan University, Taiwan, Visiting Scientist at Shizuoka University, Japan and Cairo University, Egypt, Visiting Professor at National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland, USA and Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg, Russia. He has successfully completed Twelve (12) major research projects funded by UGC (5), CSIR (2) DRDO (1) DAE-BRNS (3) and DST-SERB (1). He is the recipient of “Teacher of Excellence Award” by S.V. University in 2009. His active research and original research contributions made UGC-BSR to sanction him “ONE TIME GRANT” of Rs. 7.0 Lakhs in the year 2012. He has been appointed as Member, Environmental Quality in State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) of Andhra Pradesh by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi for a term of three years (2010-2013) and Member, Environment Audit Committee (EAC), Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), Government of Andhra Pradesh (2016-2018). He was nominated as a Fellow of A.P. Academi of Sciences (FAPAS) – 2016 by APAS, Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh; Associate Member in Institute of Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture (IFSSA), a Research Cluster Unit of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Kelantan, Malaysia-2017 and Member, National Academy of Sciences (MNASc)-2017, India. He was a recipient of Prof. Lallan Singh Award for Best PG Chemistry Teacher-2016, by Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT); Mumbai, Capital Foundation National Award for Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education-2017, Awarded by Capital Foundation Society, New Delhi;Life-Time Achievement Award in Sciences-2017, Awarded by Venus International Foundation, Chennai; State Level Best Teacher Award-2018, Awarded by Government of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati; Dr. L. Research interest
- C. Suresh Reddy’s research group is presently engaged in the synthesis of new organophosphorus acyclic/ heterocyclic molecules with different ring sizes and heteroatoms such as Oxygen, Nitrogen, Sulphur, Selenium and Boron.
- Design of novel bioactive / industrially useful organophosphorus compounds / reagents and realize their synthesis using green chemistry is our primary forte.
- The research group has achieved some partial success in this Endeavour since some of the synthesized compounds exhibited significant pesticidal, anticancer and fire resistant properties. Further research in the area may lead to fruitful results.
- Another aspect of the investigations are on the use of organophosphorus compounds as reagents in organic synthesis, particularly in asymmetric synthesis, functional group modifications and formation of new P-X (X=C, O, N, S) bonds and heterocyclic rings.
- Spectral and X-ray diffraction studies of these compounds in depth not only confirm their structures but also provide valuable data useful in structure elucidation of several other organic molecules.
- They are also exploring advanced electrochemical techniques for the reduction behavior and analysis of different drugs and its pharmaceutical formulations.
