Prof. PARAMAGEETHAM CHINTHALA currently working as Professor of Microbiology, Head of the Microbiology department, Co-ordinator- Industrial Microbiology, Board of Studies(BOS) Chairperson Microbiology, Executive council member of Sri Venkateswara university, Ex-officio member of Academic senate. She is a Board of studies member in Yogi Vemana University, IIIT Nuzivid, Vikrama Simhapuri   University, D.K. Govt. College, SPSR district, PVKR govt. Degree college, Chittor. She is having 27 years of research experience and 24 years of teaching experience. Her main focus of research is on extremophiles, Biofuels, Novel drugs from lichenized fungi and actinomycetes and bioremediation of polluted environments. She obtained her ph.D degree from Sri Venkateswara University in 2002 with financial assistance from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR, New Delhi).She was a Raman Post doctoral fellow at Prof .Ruanbao Zhou lab, Department of Biology and Microbiology, South Dakota state University, Brookings, USA during 2014-2015.She has received many awards  such as Raman post doctoral fellow (UGC, New Delhi),Young Scientist Award(DST-SERB, New-Delhi),Senior Research fellow(CSIR, New Delhi),Junior Research fellow(CSIR,UGC,ASRB), Best women Scientist Award (Nature Science Foundation, Coimbattore,TN).She is a life member in Association of Microbiologists of India(AMI), Mycological Society of India(MSI), Indian lichenological Society(ILS) and South dakota Academy of Sciences(SDAS),USA. She has guided six students for their doctoral degree and 120 students for their Masters degree. She published 80 research papers in National and International journals, published 10 book chapters, authored one international book and one national book and edited one International book. She has delivered invited talks in national and international conferences and attended more than 75 seminars/symposia/workshops. She organized two national workshops and two national conferences. She completed three major research projects and one minor research projects funded by UGC( New Delhi), DST-SERB (New Delhi), CSIR (New Delhi) and APCOST(Hyderabad). A total of 17 new bacteria were isolated from mica mines which have biosealant properties and mineral solubilising properties. A total of 14 indegenous Bacillus and Pseudomonas strains were isolated from Pharma effluent exhibited potential acetonitrile degradation capacity and bioelectricity generation. An 8 endo lichenic Aspergillus sp. with anticancer enzymes were characterized from horsely hills, Andhrapradesh. Several uncultured novel bacteria were identified through metagenomics from extreme environments. Several rhizomicrobiomes were characterized through Next generation sequencing technology. Two patents on algal biofuels, one patent on cellulosic   biofuels and one patent on acetonitrile degradation were applied.
