Physical Education
The Department of Physical Education, which was established in the year 1955, is serving the student community of the University in general and the students community of the campus in particular by extending standard sports facilities. Dr. L.K.Govindarajulu Naidu was the first Head of the department. Sri M.S.Sivasankaraiah, Sri R.V.Rajeevalochan, Prof. D.P.Jayakumar, Smt. K.Saradamba, Dr. C.S.Prasad Babu & Dr. D.Krishna Murthy served as the Heads of the department. Now it is being headed by Prof. M.Sivasankar Reddy.
The department has organized Inter-University Tournaments for almost all the Games including All India Inter-University Athletic Meet.
NATURE OF WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Conducts the University annual Sports Board meetings in which the University Sports calendar and budget will be approved.
Conducts Inter-Collegiate competitions for all the affiliated & constituent colleges.
Conducts selections of University teams of various disciplines.
Conducts Coaching camps for all the University teams at the University centre.
Arranges participation of University teams in the zonal and All India Inter-University tournaments, which will be held at various Universities in India.
Conducts Inter-departmental Sports competitions for the students, research scholars & staff of the University campus.
Awards the Sports Merit scholarships (cash awards) for 50 outstanding sports men & women every year and awards the Institutional championship (cash award) to the champion colleges every year.
