FOUNDER OF SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY

1954 Sri Venkateswara University was established in the renowned temple town of Tirupati on 02-09-1954. Prof. S. Govindarajulu, M.A., (Cantab), LL.B., was the first Vice-Chancellor to this University.
1954 Sri Venkateswara University College, Tirupati was formally inaugurated on 02-09-1954. Prof. S.G. Manavala Ramanujam, Former Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University was invited to be the first Principal of this University College. The University College began modestly with under-graduate and honours courses in six subjects/disciplines viz., Philosophy, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Zoology in December, 1954. Eminent Professors were appointed, on invitation, to organize the teaching of six honours courses in the said six Departments. Further, the Department of English was started in 1954.
1954 Sri Venkateswara University Engineering Unit/Department was started.
