Dr. Balaji Meriga obtained his Masters from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and Ph.D from Osmania Univesity, Hyderabad. Later, he worked as Post doctoral Fellow in USA and then joined Dept.of Biochemistry, S.V.University as Assistant Professor. Dr.Meriga is currently Associate Professor in the same department and his research areas of interest are Exploring Natural product based therapeutics against Obesity and associated disorders. So far he has mentored 12 research students to obtain Ph.Ds, published more than 70 research articles, two books and half a dozen book chapters. He obtained funding for research from various national agencies like DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, DAE-BRNS etc. Many of his Ph.D students are abroad and some are working as faculty/Scientists in private and Govt. Institutes.
Prof.O.V.S.Reddy joined in S.V.University, Tirupati in the year 1992. Before that he worked for PhD at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore after qualifying UGC-CSIR NET. Worked as STA Post Doctorial Fellow for two years (1998-2000). Visited Italy in the year 2006 for one year utilizing the Italian Govt. Scholarship programme and completed the PG Diploma in Bioinformatics. Carried out research in the Department, received funding from various funding agencies, guided nineteen PhD students and published more than one hundred research pipers in National and International journals. Also published several review articles, books and attended conferences at National and International level. Received several awards including UGC-Mid-career award. His PhD students are well placed and working all over the world.
