Foreign Languages and Linguistics
The department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics was established in 1990.At present 2 Teaching faculty, 2 Academic Consultants and 2 supporting staff are working in the department. The department has been implementing Teaching, Research and Extension Activities. To start with, P.G. Diploma in Applied Linguistics was offered as an evening programme in the department. The department has been offering P.G. programme i.e. M.A.Linguistics since 1998 with an intake of 15 students by following Choice Based Credit System and Semester Pattern. The department has offered P.G. Diploma in General Linguistics in the period 2013-2017 As self-supporting (evening) programme. Under research, the department is offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in Linguistics. The department is undertaking sponsored research projects with the financial support of UGC. So for 54 Ph.D. degrees and 46 M.Phil. degrees in Linguistics and Languages are awarded in the department. The department has organized 1 International workshop and 5 National Seminars. The department has been published 34 Books and 265 Research Articles. The intention of the department is to cater the needs of both Telugu states regard to Language aspects. Linguistics is defined as the scientific study of Languages, whether it is living or dead, old or modern, small or big. It is an interdisciplinary subject in which History, Epigraphy, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy, Neurology, Speech pathology; Physics, Mathematics, etc. are involved. The curriculum of the P.G. Programme in Linguistics of S V University has certain distinctive features. it provides emphases to the Languages and introducing innovative subjects like: Inter Disciplinary Linguistics (Socio-linguistics etc.) and Applied Linguistics (Lexicography, Language Teaching etc.) etc. Since the department is named as Foreign Languages and Linguistics, it is proposed to introduce self-supporting Diploma Programmes in German and French as evening programmes for interested students, Research scholars and even for teaching faculty. It is intended to attract, to create interest in the students to make them understand the subject well and also modernize the teaching and learning activity, by strengthening the department with modern electronic technology and make the students study deeply the subject. The department is taking steps to undertake research work in collaboration with other departments like English, Telugu etc.

Foreign Languages and Linguistics
Dr.G.Aruna got her M.A. Degree in the year 1997 and Ph.D. degree in the year 2000. She has got 18 years of teaching and 21 years of research experience. 03 M.Phils. and 03 Ph.Ds. were awarded under her guidance. She has published 96 research articles and published 7 books. She has attended 96 National seminars, 11 International Seminars and 3 workshops. She has attended one FDP Programme in the year 2021. She has given 14 radio talks. She was honoured with BN Sastry Award in 2005 and Vidhya Vibhushan Award in 2018. She is doing Minor Research Project ‘Adikruttika’ a Folk Festival performed in both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. She has organized One International Workshop as a coordinator. She was a Resource Person for Refresh Courses in Telugu. She is specialized in Phonetics, Telugu Language and Literature and Folk Literature.
He is a Gold Medalist in PG degree for the year 1983. He did his M.Phil. in the year 1985 and Ph.D. in the year 1988. He is experienced in teaching with 31 years and 37 years as a researcher. 33 students got their Ph.D. degrees under the guidance of Dr.G.Radha Krishna. He was also supervised the M.A.Linguistics in their projects works. He has published 43 research papers, 4 book in chapters and published 12 books. He has attended 63 national Seminars, 17 International Seminars, 7 national Workshops, 14 International Workshops and one FDP Programme. He is one of the Editors for the 10th Standard Telugu Text Book prepared in 2007 by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune. He is specialized in descriptive Linguistics, Lexicography, Grammatical Structure of Telugu and Comparative Dravidian. He was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Telugu, Nagarjuna University, Guntur and gave lectures on General Linguistics. He was a Resource Person for Refresher Courses in Telugu and Linguistics.
