About Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 1959 with an under-graduate program. Master’s and Doctoral programmes in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineering, and Structural Engineering were introduced in 1972. Since the inception, the department has grown tremendously and is recognized as one of the best departments in the country. It provides high quality teaching and research with its multifaceted faculty. The department is actively involved in the consultancy projects catering to the needs of various organizations and offers high technical advisory support to many agencies. Prestigious Water Technology Center and Center for Rural Appropriate Technology Center (CeRDAT) are also part of Civil Engineering department.The department has multitalented alumni serving in various prestigious positions in different fields at National and International level. It organizes many International and National Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Continuing Education Programmes by interacting with eminent professors and practicing engineers to disseminate the knowledge to the world. The department of Civil Engineering encourages the faculty and students for participating in training programs in various premier institutes. The department faculty members and students have won many prestigious awards and recognitions adding feathers to its cap. Some faculty members are editors and members of the editorial boards of reputed national and international journals.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO1 - To provide students with the fundamental, technical knowledge and skills in mathematics, sciences and engineering to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems in the areas of Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulics and Water Resources, Transportation and Environmental engineering.PEO2 - To provide students with individual working skills and practical experience and to fulfill their professional duties and communicate effectively in teamwork, ethical thinking, technical leadership, and lifelong learning.
PEO3 - To make the students responsible professionals to work in various positions in industry or government and/or succeed in graduate or other professional organizations.
PEO4 - To train the students to become engineers, managers, scientists, researchers and innovators and make substantial contributions to the society.
PEO5 - To guide the students to use modern tools to solve complex engineering problems.

Programme Outcomes (POs)
PO1- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems related to Electronics & Communication and Engineering.PO2- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems related to Electronics & Communication Engineering and reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems related to Electronics & Communication Engineering and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4- Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5- Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6- The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the Electronics & Communication Engineering professional engineering practice.

Civil Engineering
Dr. D . Venkata Prasada Rao, is working as a Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SVUCE, Tirupati, with Structural Engineering Specialization. Obtained Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He presented research papers in the area of RHS Beam-to-Column connections in International Conferences held at Busan-Korea, Canada, India etc., and published research papers in Journal of Constructional Steel Research, Elsevier Ltd., UK., and various National and International Journals.
Dr. CH. Sudha Rani is a Professor in the Geotechnical Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at SV University. She Joined Sri Venkateswara University in 2007 as Associated Professor and promoted as Professor in 2013. She has 20+ years of teaching and 15 years of research experience. She teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Her research interests include Ground Improvement Techniques, Geo-Environmental Engineering and AI applications in Geotechnical Engineering. She has about 30 publications International and national journal publications and about 20 conference papers. She served as member for Board of Studies (UG, Pass) for Civil Engineering, S.V.University and at present she is the Chairman for UG Board of studies (Civil Engineering),S.V.University and also member of Board of studies for various Engineering colleges in A.P., India. She has guided one Ph.D. student and 6 more Ph.D students are working under her guidance. She is actively involved in several Consultancy services to various state government and private organizations. She is life member of various professional bodies such as IEI, IGS, ISH, ISTE, ISC, etc.. She has served as Deputy Warden, Additional Chief Superintendent, Coordinator Exams, Member in several committees at University level, College level and Department level.
